Mr B. R. Sword, who lias been located in the Traffic Office, at Greymouth, since November, 1020, first as Chief Traffic Cleric, hut since last July, as District Traffic Manager, has received notice of his transfer to Christchurch, where lias been appointed Assistant Superintendent of the South Island, one of the new positions created as a result of the recent Railway Commission.
There have been many enquiries during the the past few days regarding Llie reopening of the schools. W hen asked at Christchurch, oil Sunday evening if anything definite had been decided upon, Dr Telford said that the Director-General of Health had stated that the public would be advised one week before the date of reopening. No further information than that was available.
As a result of a sudden and heavy downpour of rain on Saturday, one of the biggest slips that has occurred for many years fell on the Boiler George road, near White-cliffs. The little Onhika bridge also was rendered unsafe for motor vehicles. Great difficulty has been experienced, and much time lost in transhipping passengers and mails. It is estimated that the slip, which is thirty feet deep and nine chains long, will take several weeks to clear.

place in St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Greymoutli, yesterday alter noon. The ceremony was performed by Rev. T. N. Cuttle. Miss TL Drake pie sided at the organ, and played the “ Wedding March ” as the party left tho church. The bride wore a dress ol white georgette, with an overdress ol radium lace, and also a white lace vei and wreath of orange blossoms. She was attended by Miss Eva Nicholson, of Dunedin, who wore a dress / of < M rose georgette. Air David Cowan i\as best man. After the ceremony, the bride and bridegroom and their friends were entertained at Harkor’s lea Rooms. They left Inter by motor for Otira and join the express this morning, proceeding to Canterbury on their honeymoon. The bride travelled in a costume of brown tricotene ami u blue hat.
