After an .illness extending over seven years, .Mr Albert Stringer passed away on Wednesday, at the District Hospital, Westport. The, late Mr Stringer was for many years in the service of Westport Harbour Hoards and won and retained the highest esteem of all associated with him. Death is a happy release to his long sufferings, horn with Christian fortitude. Deceased was a native of Bendigo, Victoria, Ausa natve of Bendigo, Victoria, Australia, GO years of age. He had resid-' ed in New- Zealand for 58 years. He is survived by a widow and family of two sons and one daughter, also five sisters and two brothers.

A telegram received by a local resident states that the Maori Party now touring the Coast is being enthusiasically received at the northern end of the island.
