[I)Y TELEGRAPH—PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] A LIFE OF ADVENTURE. THREE BOY’S EXPLOITS. AUCKLAND, February 10. The exploits of three boys, aged 15, who left home to lead a life of adventure. were related in the Juvenile Court to-day. when they were charged with The theft of a shot-gun, food, blankets and cutlery, valued at £BS. The police stated that after tho t -efts' the lads hid their loot in the Domain, and went to Mercer for a couple of days. They then returned and took up their residence in the Domain. Subsequently they stole a dinghy and rowed across to Rangitoto Island, where they camped in an old w hare for a week. Later they returned to the city, and ransacked a warehouse. They were captured while on their way hack to their camp in the Domain. The ringleader was admitted to probation for three years, and the others to two years. KILLED BY MOTOR. AUCKLAND. February 19. Muriel Ethel Powley, ail eleven and a half year old girl, of 18 Dean St.. Grey Lynn, was knocked down by a motor car in the Great North Road this afternoon. She was admitted to the hospital at 4.55 p.m., suffering from severe head and internal injuries and died at 8 p.m.
TALK OF STRIKE. WELLINGTON. February 10. Regarding the attitude of the watersiders on the question of nay. as fixed by the recent ward of the Arbitration Court, Mr Jas, Roberts, the Secretary of the Watersiders Federation , said that tliere was no question that the decision had given a great deal of dissatisfaction throughout New Zealand at the mass meeting, some had advocated drastic action, hut tho majority of those present thought it would he better to refer the whole matter to the Executive, who would confer with the Federation. No doubt, the talk of a strike is in the air, and they were much nearer to an industrial upheaval than many of the public imagined. SUDDEN DEATH. DUNEDIN, February 19.
Daniel Spence, aged 75 years, a single man, dropped dead while walking in Northeast Valley shortly before noon to-day. Heart failure was the probable cause of death. Ail inquest will he held to-morrow morning. GOVERNOR-GENERAL.
CHRISTCHURCH. February 19. With the object of inducing the Go-vernor-General to spend mure time in Christchurch than his prodecossorsjiavo done, the Mayor (Mr Flesher) suggested at a meeting of the City Council that tin' Government should provide a Vice-Regal residence in Christchurch, and that the City Council should undertake the can l ol the resident' when the Governor-General is not in occupation.
AFCKI.AXD WtidL SALE. AUCKLAND. Fob. 19. 'The Auckland wool sale open si tonight. There was a good bench ol buyers, Iml. there was not the same activity as at the previous sale. Consequently prices showed a general decline of several pence. Quite a large number of lots were passed in. The highest price to-night was 251(1. The sale, which was continued until a very late hour, will he continued to-morrow.

AUCKLAND, Fen. 11. The first conference of flic Gas Institute of New Zealand was held at Auckland to-day. The ITosideut, Mr John Lowe, in discussing the Government regulations for the supply and sale of gas, said they were in themselves satisfactory. Whether they would he a benefit or a burden to the consumer and undertakings depended on the administration. I" (; '-oat Britain there was a levy on the companies and the imaiev obtained was used in the administration of the regulations, particularly for the payments of the inspectors.
