A classic love story ended in the lawcourts in the acquittal ol the pretty Polish actress Stanislawa Umiiiska. who was charged with killing her lover. Jean Zyznow.ski. Lhe poet. Evidence was given that the poet foil in love with the actress three years ago and then became the victim ol cancer. He was removed to a Paris hospital whither Stanislawa was summoned. Cancelling all engagements Stanislawa hurried thither, nursing her lover day and night, even consenting to the trails-, fusion of her blood to enable him to with-stand an operation. This was unavailing and .Jean entreated Stanislawa to end his sufferings with a revolver concealed beneath the pillow. The girl long resisted, hut tortured by the spectacle of agony she eventually drew the pistol and fired and kilted her lover. The Court scenes wen 1 the most pathetic, women sobbing, lint'they linallv applauded the verdict ol acquittal.
