LONDON, Jan. 89. The Liberal Party Convention, with a view to reviving the Ini'tunes :>t Liberalism throughout the country opened in London, in Tvingsway Hall, v :..cii was packed by eighteen hundred relegates. Mr Asquith, Air Lloyd George, and Sir John Simon were present. Sir Donald Mej.ean. in the opening speech, expressed loyalty to Air Asquith. lie said they were eager 'Mr Ins his lead and ready for t.ho fray. r lliev were proud that the King, oil his own personal initiative, had inulerred an Earldom upon Mr Asquith. Air Asquith received a rcmarK i do ovation, the delegates rising singing "He’s a Jolly Good Fellow.” He said he had not. yet resigned the leadership of the Liberal Party. The giiai authoring had convincingly proved tl at the fires of Liberalism were not e. tuiguishod. Mr Lloyd George unreservedly ncopted the leadership from Mr Arquith. both shook hands.
