AN INQUEST. INVERCARGILL, January 27. An inquiry into the circumstances of the death of the Rev. Father Alarlow, late of Dunedin, who met his death on January 18th, as a result- of a motor accident, was held before the District-Coroner, Mr G. CVuickshank. The evidence showed that deceased had had trouble with his car and had apparently gone hack along the road to get assistance when lie was struck on tho ankle liy a following car and flung on to the road, sustaining a fracture of the base of the skull. The deceased’s brother said he did not attach anv Marne to the driver of the following car. The Coroner said that it was one of those accidents that did happen and his verdict would ho one of accidental death, no blame being attachable to the driver of the other car.

Tho police and the Coroner also expressed their sympathy with deceased’s brother and relatives in the loss they had sustained. The Coroner said that a fine young colonial-horn priest had been making good in the district and his death was indeed a great loss. STILL GOOD. WELLINGTON, January 27. The oldest Building in the Hutt Valley, a house built by a Air Percy 85 years ago, and now occupied by his sons, is being pulled down to make way for the new railway. A condition of the sale of tho land was that tho owners lie permitted to remove and reerect tho building. The timber is ex--cellently preserved, and long life is considered still ahead of it when "e built.
