ATHLETICS.
WELLINGTON, .Jan. 28. At a special meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association., the Chairman reported a cablegram had been received, intimating that four track men—Parker and Graham (Queensland) and Whyte and Hyde (Victoria), and a cyclist, Durness (N.S.W.) would leave for New Zealand about February 4th. It was suggested that the guarantee from the larger centres desiring meetings should he £BO, and from the smaller bodies £4O. Wellington, Canterbury, Otago and Auckland will be required to guarantee a larger sum. and Mastertnn. Palmerston North, Timaru and Invercargill a smaller sum. Wanganui is exempt on account of the New Zealand Championships being held there. Tf possible Gisborne will be included. It was stated that ITawera might give a guarantee of .£3O lor an electric light meeting and the Chairman on learning that the meeting would probably attract thousands from Wanganui and New Plymouth suggested that a £2O guarantee might be accepted.
