HOKITIKA SWIMMING CLUB.

The annual meeting of the above was held at the Town Hall last evening at 7.-10 o’clock. Air D. J. Evans (President) occupied the chair. There was a- fair attendance of members, including a number of youthful swimmers. The report and balance sheet (already published) were laid on the table. Mr Lawn explained the items of the balance sheet in detail. Air Evans, in moving the adoption of the documents referred to the satisfactory position of the Club, and the good work of the Secretary (Air Lawn) in regard to the management. Air Lynn seconded the motion, which was carried. Officers were elected ns follows: Patron—Hon H. L. Alidiol, M.L.C. : President, Air D. J. Evans; Vice-Pre-sident, Ah- J. J. AfcTntosh; Captain. Mr AT. Houston ; Vice-enptain, Mr G. Tomlinson; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr A. H. Lawn; Assistant-Secretary. ATr F. Uochford; Committee, Messrs 11. Lynn, G. Adamson Jim., Whiley, Gil-

looly, Ferris, Staveley, Gibbons, G. Adamson senr., TL Patterson, S. Richardson. Tn order to encourage a better attendance of ladies it was resolved to set apart Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 3 p.m. for ladies only, by way of experiment. It was resolved that only about l alf of the children attending the local schools could swim. It was decided to write the committees and offer facilities for special instruction to children who were non-swimmers at hours to lie ar-

ranged. The following officials were appointed for swimming meetings:—Handicappel's, Afessrs Lawn and Houston : Starter Air Gillooly; Cheek-starter, Air Lynn: ■Judges. Afessrs Staveley, Whiley and Fern’s; Time-keepers. Alcssrs G. Adamson senr., S. Richardson, F. Rockford; call steward, Air Gibbons. It was stated a gala night would he held on Wednesday, races starting at S o’clock. The Band had been invited to attend, and an interesting evening would result. It was stated the electric light was being installed permanently at a cost of about £35, and the proceeds from the gala would assist to defray the cost. Admission will he Is (children half-price). The following handicaps have been declared for to-morrow evening’s carnival at the swimming baths:

Nominations will lie accepted at the Carnival for the following'events:— Men's and Boys’ Diving; Ladies’ and Girls’ Diving; Diving through the Buoy; Blunging; Fancy Diving; Beginners Race for boys and girls; Breast Stroke.
