A representative meeting of Murchison local bodies on Wednesday night decided to draw the attention of the Minister of Public Works, and Mr l>- ]>. Hudson, member for the district, to the obsolete methods of forming the railway line from Gleiiliopo to Murchison. In view of the Minister's statement regarding opening the line to Kawatiri in June, the meeting urged a more vigorous policy in completing the section.
When charged at the Christchurch Magistrate’s Court, on Wednesday with going over a crossing when the signals were against him. a man gave the excuse that he did not know whether the crossing-keeper meant, him to atop or continue on. The Magistrate remarked that lie had had a similar experience recently. When approaching crossing he saw the keeper holding out both flags- the red and the green! lie (the Magistrate) stopped and gave the keeper a little lecture on the proper performance of his duties..

The question whether there was an accent in New Zealand was raised by Mr H. A. Wright. M.R.. at the Wellington Kilucatioii Board’s meeting. He asked if the inspectors could say whether there was any noticeable accent amongst the school children. The chairman (Mr T. Forsyth): 1 hey don 1 think they have an accent in America.
