Giving evidence liofore the Food Commission, llobley, principal wlie.it buyer for the Co-operative Wholesale Society, referring to Canadian methods ■of delivering wheat from growers to the elevators, said a had system of late dispatches from Canada tended to increase prices, lie criticised the oldfashioned ideas of Argentine growers, and the wasteful system of (lagging wheat. He urged that Indian wheat should be kept at a temperature in which the weevil destroyed a great quantity. He remarked that Australia was improving as a source of supply since the Government had erected silos, and made other arrangements enabling their own country to get the hulk of the wheat and make useful economies. Replying to Sir Auckland Geddes, witness expressed the opinion that six sinister figures who were said to control the importation of wheat into Britain, were mythical.
