Important developments in connection with oil deposits in the Mtittltisnn district are likely to take place shortly, .and the fields are to he thoroughly tested. Some months ago, Mr .T. A. Spencer, an expert formerly with the Anglo-l’ersian Oil Company, made an exhaustive survey of Murchison district, and it is understood his report on the possibilities of oil being found in payable quantities, was of a most favourable nature. At a sitting of the Warden's Court. Murchison, yesterday, on the application tif Mr Kemnitz. prospecting warrants were recommended to D. A. Oxiiani (one), and .T. Rassott (two), over an area of 20.000 acres in Tutaki and Matiri districts. The warrants are for prospecting oil, petroleum, and natural gases. It is understood an Auckland syndicate has been formed to thoroughly trv out the field.
