Inward correspondence was received and dealt with. ’ After c'liisiilcring correspondence with the West Coast and Inaiigaluia Associations and probable exhibitors from Canterbury, and Nelson. Sat*" - day. 21st. February, was fixed as t ln* date of the Annual Show, being in the same week as that of the West Coast \ asocial ion. Replies were received from the Ill'll. W. F. Massey (J’lvmier) and the Minister of Agriculture (Hon W. Nosworthy) to representations made regarding tin* provision for instruction in liacon curing, to the effect that same would he discussed with the Minister of Education.

The Secretary reported having attended a meeting of representatives held at Christchurch during Show Week there, when the Federation of South Island Associations was decided upon, and a copy of the minutes of such meeting was read. It was considered that the provision of the Federation’s constitution, by which Marlborough, Nelson and Westland were grouped as a district to elect one member, to the executive, was scarcely satislactory. Such a district was at present 100 large and hampered liv want of intercommunication. The meeting decided to communicate with tiie executive in Christchurch, iininting this out. and asking that Westland lie made a separate district with the right to elect its own memlcr. so that tin* matter might come before their next meeting in March.

The Secretary also reunited- having interviewed a number of business firms in Christchurch, stating he bail received promises of donations to the prize fund. Appreciation of the Secretary’s action was expressed hy members. _ , . It was reported that the Show Grounds Committee had decided upon further work to improve the grounds, mini it was also intended to lav out experimental grass-plots under the supervision of Afr Dalgliesh. which were to be used as demonstration plots at the Mlmw. It is expected that tli; two lime companies will accede to the request to donate line to lie used on the plots. Several appointments were nuule to take in hand preparations for fho Show, which, with favourable weather, s-iiouli. bo even mure successful than those which have hitherto been held. The President, who attended the recent Nebson Show, reported general interest throughout that and the intervening districts in our fixture, and that if the Coast Shows were fixed for closer and consecutive dates, even bettor patronage would ho received from those parts. The Committee believed that its past efforts in this direction are being recognised and will ultimately he responded to hy the other Coast Associations. The Sub-Committee to revise the rules and regulations reported that the same bad been deferred pending a report from the Federation Committee, hut it would now take the matter m hand for the next meeting of the Committee. The question of writing to Judges for the Show was loft in tho hands of the President and Secretary. Several accounts were passed toi pavmeiit. The Chairman reminded members that the Show date was not fur distant. It behoved those with the work in hand to push on with the canvas for membership and donations to the prize fund, as widespread interest was the kevnote of success.
