Replying 'to Mr I’on.sonb.v, Mr Baldwin stated the (loverninent were communicating with the Dominion flovernincnts, and he hoped to he able to make an announcement shortly regarding proposals for a preliminary

inquiry into the system of consultation on matters of foreign policy, as outlined by Mr Thomas on July 20. Sir Newton Moore asked whether the (loverninent will propose to ensure that such question as maintenance of a. white Australia, shall not he submitted to review by the League of Nations. Mr Baldwin said the Government's policy regarding the Protocol was not yet settled, but questions of this kind were not likely to be overlooked.
