AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. GABLE ASSOCIATION. WU DECISIVELY BEATEN. PEKIN, October 30. The defeat of Wu Peifu’s army on tbe Shanghaiwau front was pf a decisive nature. With Fongy Hsiang’s forces barring the road to Pekin, and llankow-Pekin line cut, and with Chang Tso Lin’s divisions coining on rapidly to Tientsin, Wu Peifu is nowin a perilous position. He decided to face Chang Tso Lin’s pursuing army from Shanghaiwau, and is preparing for a battle at Lutai, to defend Tientsin, 40 miles off.
GREAT MAXCnU VICTORY. PEKIN, November 1. A communique from Mukden reports tbe complete occupation of Shanhaikwan, Chinwangtoa and Pcltacho, with the capture of thirty thousand Chihlites, and one hundred guns.
