KEOGH INSANE. AUCKLAND. Oct. 31. Tfarrv Joseph Motor Keogh, aged ‘l3. who cut the throat of his infant child on Ail-Mist sth. was acquitted on the murder charge on the grounds ol insanity. Drs Fullerton and Murray gave evidence for tho Crown and deposed that Keogh was incapable of knowing the nature and quality of the act, or of knowing wrong. . Dr Beattie. Mental Hospital- superintendent, said Keogh appeared coherent the morning after the tragedy. The severe shock after transformed an abnormal limn to a normal condition temporarily. There was no reason why the evidence of the former doctors should not he correct. , . He was never able to say that Ins client did not commit the act. said Mr Johnstone, hut the jury should acquit him on the grounds of insanity. Judge Herilman said it was the saddost" o 7 sad cases and in the face of the evidenc the only conclusion was insanity. , . Keogh was ordered to lie detained under strict custody at Mount Eden prison till the pleasure of the Minister of Justice was made known.
