[I)Y TELEGItAPH—PER PRESS ASSOCIATION LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, Oct. 31. The Begislative Council met at 2.31 to-dav.

The Dairy Industry Amendment Bill, the Alining Amendment Bill and the Native Trustee Amendment Bill were reported from Committee without amendment. On the motion of the lion Scott, the Alining Amendment Bill was referred hack to the Goldfiields and Alining Committee for further consideration.

Three days’ leave of ab-enee wa granted to Hon .Mclntyre on aecoiin of illness.

The Fruit Control Bill, the Public Works Amendment Bill and the Shipping and Seamen's Amendment Bill were received from the House and road a first time. The British Nationality and Status of Aliens Bill was introduced and read a first time. The Council disagreed with certain amendments made hy the House in the Chattels Transfer Amendment Bill, and a Committee was appointed to draw up reasons for the disagreements. 'Phe Education Amendment Bill was put through its final stages and passed. The Council rose at 800 until S p.m. on Monday.

THE HOUSE. The House rose at 12.-10. The House spoilt the afternoon and evening sittings discussing the Public Works Statement ami the Estimates, while votes amounting to £B,o9fi.Gofi were passed without reduction. It was announced tlie House would meet to-morrow at 11 a.m. for the purpose of passing the “Washing Up” Bill and Local Bills. The House rose at 12.20 a.m
