AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. GABLE ASSOCIATION LONDON, September 18. Immediately on the arrival of the New Zealand footballers, Mr S. S. Dean, on behalf of the team, wrote a letter to the Governor-General elect expressing their gratification on having received the news of Sir Charles’s acceptance of the Governorship, and enclosing him a list of the team.’s fixtures during the football season. Mr Dean has had the following reply from Sir Charles: “Thank you very much for your kind leter, which my wife and I appreciate very much. It was a great pleasure to think that our appointment was so warmly welcomed, and 1 can assure you that we both look forward immensely to our stay in New Zealand, which we both remember well in former days.
“Please give m.v warmest greetings to the team. I wish them all success and a pleasant tour in this country, and shall look forward to greeting them on their return. Thank you Tor sendin*' mo the list of fixtures. If it is at all possible for me to attend any of tbem T will, of course, do so, but it, is doubtful, as wo shall be very busy until our departure.”
