Prior to the hearing of further evidence, Hr Campbell-Bogg, Wellington, representing the N«w Zealand branch of the British Medical Association, announced that he appeared on behalf of the Association relative to Clause (! of the order of reference, which called upon the Commission to enquire generally into the practice and [lowers of the honorary medical staff of the Hospital Board, relative to the admission, treatment and discharge of patients. Hr Begg stated lie had been sent to the enquiry by the Modi eal Association to watch Clause C>, and lie would like His Worship’s ruling as to whether the honorary medical staff could rc regarded as a separate entity in regard to the whole of the questions involved as to hospital administration generally. To assist the Commission in this respect, ho asked leave to call Drs Wylie and Rett, other members of the. honorary medical staff of flic Palmerston North Hospital.
The Magistrate said lie would like to have some such assistance as suggested by Hr Begg in its relation to the general practice of other hospital bodies in New Zealand. lie would hear Hr Wylie and Bott. Further evidence was then heard from witnesses on behalf of Mr Bryce. The ease for the Hospital Board is proceeding.
