FOREIGN TROOPS LAND. PEKING, Oct. 28
Two hundred American marines have landed at Tientsin. There are me each of English, French and Italian gunboats, and two Japanese destroyers in the Pei ho River. There has been an excellent response to tbe local authorities’ appeal lor volunteers. Many trains with troops have arrived.

Autliorative reports from Chinivangtao stale Chang Tso Lin’s artillery opened lire on the railway area at Slmnhaikuau yesterday, AA u Pci Ill’s heavy guns replied with a prolonged bombardment. Otherwise there was no lighting and no change on the whole ftont. A Chang Tso Lin aeroplane registered a hit on the cruiser Haichi, damaging her main (lock. A Tientsin message says AA u Pei 1 u is at present advancing and the indications are that a battle is not imminent.
AY it Pci Fu is awaiting definite promises from Shangtimg provinces. A Senior Consul called on AA tl Pei Fu and drew his attention to the proctoeol forbidding the stationing of troops in Tientsin and vicinity.
