A provisional warrant lias been issued for tbe arrest of a man who. a low hours after marriage, borrowed £2O steiiiag from his wife, and disappeared. The police allege that he is wanted for previous wife desertions in New South Wales, South Australia, and Victoria. In the last-named case, he disappeared after getting his wife’s money under promise of marriage, which he failed to keep. The man is described as an Englishman, well-educated, fluent, affable, and an ardent church-goer.
SHIP REFLOATED. MELBOURNE, Oct. 2:1. After lightening her cargo the Casino was refloated, and is proceeding. SHIP TURNS UP. SYDNEY, Oct. 23. The Cnthkit. cabled as missing on October 21st. has lieen sighted off Bateman's Bay. She is reported short of provisions. A steamer has left with supplies.
DEATH SENTENCE COMMUTED. ADELAIDE, October i 23. The death sentence on Harvey for murdering his wife and child on 23tii June, lias been commuted to imprisonment for life.
