The order ol reference for .Sir Sam Fay and Sir Vincent Raven, the English experts to enquire into the New Zealand railway, includes passenger and goods traffic, lares and freights, merchandise section, permanent way maintenance and equipment, competition by road and sea, excursion traffic, use of rail motor cars in addition to matters of the powers of the staff, statistical methods and similar ques. tions.
COMMISSION AT DARGAYILI.K DA RGAYI LEE. Oct. 22
The Railway Commission (Sir Sam Fay and Sir Vincent Raven and stall). Mr McVilly (General Manager) and stall', and Mr Furkerl (Public Works), arrived at Dargaville from Whangarei last night. They were entertained at a dinner by the local bodies ami Chamber of Commerce and received a deputation in eoimeetiou with railway matters. this being chiefly with regard to freight on butter. The visitors were much impressed by the possibilities of North Auckland.
Sir Vincent Raven expressed his intention of spending some time on the completion of the present business tour in looking over the beauty spots of the dist riel.
