The six-year old daughter of Mr Anderson, a farmer on the Pipiriki road, near Raetihi, was shot in the eye by an air gun which accidentally exploded while being handled by her brother, who is two years older. The patient was removed to Auckland for a specialist’s treatment in an endeavour to save her ovesight. ‘ _JQ . FALSE PRETENCES. (JAMART!, October 22.

At the Magistrates Court this morning a young married woman, Margaret Durkin with many aliases, was sentenced to three months imprisonment for obtaining goods from a local tradesman by false pretences. Other charges are pending all over New Zealand.
