To-day a deputation of members of the Legislature waited oil the Prime Minister to ask that legislation he passed this session, restoring to local bodies the revenue from the timber royalties which they lust when the forestry operations were inaugurated. Air Afassey gave a sympathetic reply, promising to submit the matter to Cabinet at its first meeting, with a view to arriving at a more equitable arrangement than obtains at present. The deputation was introduced. by Air J. O’Brien, who said unless something were done quickly, the timber royalty question would be lett in abeyance. They wanted legislation passed this session to restore the royalties as in l!)().7. The late Air Sechlon, and Air Massey himself, lmd stated the revenue should go to the local hollies from the royalties.

Thomas Raekhousc. aged 55, single, when proceeding to work this morning took ill and went to a friends house where he expired in a few minutes from heart failure' for which he had been under medical treatment. It i. understood that he has no relatives in New Zealand, hut relatives m England.
