A STARRING AFFRAY. SYDNEY, Oct. 11. On Tuesday last, when the steamer Trewui'las, was hound from Ocean Island. a lircman named John Jacob, a West. African, was stabbed to death .111 the forecastle deck hv a member of the Indian crew-, named Aledi Doran. The latter was immediately placed in irons and handed over to the police on arrival at Newcastle. lie was later charged with murder. The two had been working together as greaser and lircman since the beginning of the voyage. Owing to Doran’s had temper there had been frequent quarrels. .Ricoh was leaning over the deck rails when Doran attacked him with a knife and before he had time to grapple with his assailant he was stabbed. The attack was so sudden that other members of the crew were tumble to intervene.
