THE MORATORIUAI. AVELLINGTON, October 8.
Alorc was heard of the Moratorium in the House this afternoon, when Air .Massey reported that the conference of Managers of the House aiul the Council had disagreed on the question of dates, and he moved to ask for another conference, at which the House would be represented by Messrs Stewart, Hamm, ijysnar, Alum-a and AA'ill'ord. He suggested the Council should go as iar as meeting the House in the direction of providing an early date for the mortgagors to put in their applications, so that, as early as possible, tbo House would know how many people were nlfected. The tight was going to be round the question of whether the House was going to have the reviewing of the matter or not, next session. Air Alassey agreed with Afr AVilford, and said he had been assured that there were men who could not be helped, because they could not find security. JI is opinion was that there were very few wllo would be affected. AYliat 1"* said was borne out by inquiries made of lending institutions. He hoped satisfactory arrangements would be arrived at, for it was a very important matter. RATLAYAY “CASUALS”. DUNEDIN, October 8. At a meeting of the Hillside railway workshops, a resolution was carried. expressing strong dissatisfaction at tbo cutting out of “term casuals”, from voting on the hours of work, as they wore just as much affected as all other members. .MOTOR ACCIDENTS. DUNEDIN, October 8. A motor-car accident occurred on Anderson’s Bay Rond to-night iu the vicinity where four other accidents occurred recently. A Jewett car, with four passengers, including two ladies, Captain Upton, of Hie steamer Sussex and Harold Taylor, of Dunedin, left the city at G. 30 p.m., and speeded up the rise. The car skidded off the road struck the kerb and capsized on to a fence. A post bold the car otl the passengers. One lady received a broken collarbone. The others were- bruised only. Had the car proceeded another yard, it would have gone over the embankment with a twenty feet drop. The car was damaged to the extent of about £l2O.
