Heavy artillery exchanges took place at Shuukaikuwau front for liventy-four hours till dawn this morning, when Clumgtsolin's troops attacked under an accurate barrage but were repulsed. At leu in the morning, the positions were virtually unchanged and the guns were still active.
A Japanese report from Mukden says Changlsolin's forces entered Shankaiknwau where heavy ligliting resulted in numerous casualilies on both sides.
CHINESE STEAMER ROBBED. PEKIN, October 8.
Chinese mail and passenger vessel Ningshin proceeding to Foochow I rum Shanghai, was pirated oil Mcnchow by thirty four armed passengers, who overcame the crew and took complete charge of the vessel which they directed to Biasbay near Hong Kong, where they landed thirty chests of sycel 'liver, some mails and a considerable quantity of cargo. The pirates then abandoned the vessel which made lot Amoy. The meagre details available show some sort of resistance was put up by the crew, in which the Chinese quartermaster was wounded. Among three hundred pasengers were seven foreigners, all of whom are reported to have lost the greater part of their possessions.
