LABOR CONFERENCE

Expectations of liveliness ill the Labour Conference on the subject of .Ministers alleged snobbery were disappointed, when Will Thorne (Chairman of tin* Standing Order Committee) announced Unit eight resolutions on the agenda protesting against the attendance of Ministers at Court social functions and the wearing of Couit dress, had been withdrawn. A scene unexpectedly developed when Mr Thorne announced a composite lesol.’i ion on ihinth cfatrol won,ld bo presented and the Indies were bent on delivering a lecture thereon. This evoked decided protests from the women delegates and Thorne, who said he favoured hirth control, and apologised for hurting their feelings.
CURIOUS MENTALITY. LONDON, October 8. At the Labour Conference, Mr Campbell, editor of 1 lies ‘‘Workers’ Weekly,” attacked the l.almur Government in connection with military expenditure. He alleged the use of troops in industrial disputes and asserted the Government is continuing Mr Baldwin’s army policy. Mr Cl.viies replied, denouncing the curious mentality which advocated jacilisin at this Conference, hut outside appealed to the workers to build up an army with n view to class domination. The matter dropped after Mr dynes bad spiritedly defended the Government’s policy in connection with armaments. I.M PERI AT. CONFER ENOE POSTPONED. LONDON, October 8. The Imperial Conference has been indefinitely postponed.
