ACCIDENT AT OMOTO.

A serious accident occurred at tin* Omoto Sawmilling Company’s, bush at labout 1.30 p.m. yesterday. It was some time before the unfortunate man could be extricated, as the tree under which lie was pinned, had to be sawn through. Willing helpers were sunn c:i the scene of the'accident, and the sufferer was conveyed to the Hospital bv Mi Frank llaldeoek’s car, arriving there at 5.30 p.m., where it was found, on examination, that lie was severely crushed, and .bad three ribs broken. On enquiry at- the Hospital last night, lie was still unconscious, and there was Mu change in his eondiliun, which is regarded as erilical. his head being severely injured. Mr Faulkinor, who is a native of Southland, is an experienced busliman, having worked at tlmt occupation in Montlilanil, as also in the Cniu-.l States of America, and previously on the West Coast. He is about 35 years of age. and lias a wile and two youchildren.
