There was an explosion. Ho dropped the lamp, and hacked into the enpine room. lit a couple of minutes the whole place was in llames. The sails caupltt fire and the enpine slopped. The heat "as intense. All hands Pot ashore in a dinghy. There was no filling pipe to convey the benzine from the (leek to the enpine roam. Donald Campbell, who installed the enpine. pave evidence that a filling pipe wa< provided for by the owners. Tt was put in "hen the enpine was installed. H. G. Lawretne, Senior Surveyor of Ships, said lie inspected the Onerahi l(-r U)2!i. She was in excess of requirements lor the prevention of liio. He would net have passed the vessel unless it nas provided with a fillinp pipe.

Henry Francis Robertson Yonnp. a returned .soldier, farminp at Phlgeun Hush, was found guilty at the Supreme Court to-day on fur counts of violating the Chattels Transfer Act. by disposing of stock mortpnpcd to the Crown, thereby ledneinp the security without. the authority of the mortptipee.
The jury asked if ihey could return a verdict of guilty without intention to del rami ; hut en a negative reply, they found accused guilty, with a very slroitp recoinineiid-ition for mercy. He was reimuuled for sentence.
