A railwiiy lireiunn Mi-limes (or .McGluiimo.ss) sliot Head a barmaid, Miss Winifred Foley. aged 21, and then sliot himself. He is in a serious rendition, the-collide had hern keeping company. When the girl discovered that the man was married, and was separated from his wife, she broke off the courtship. 'I lie man persisted, however, in pressing his attention. Miss Foley then sought the protection ol the p.oliie, who warned the man, hut he still persisted. On Saturday he visited the hotel and the girl went to the police station and Complained. On her returning Mclunes met her, and :m altercation was I rnicrding. when another admirer of the girl intervened. Mcfniies then suddenly grasped the git I round the waist, and he shot her twice through the hieast. and himsell in the head. The police, who had visited the hotel in .search of Melnnes. arrived on the .stone just as the man shot himself.
GREGORY AGAIN WELL. (Received this day at 10.23 a.m.) SYDNKY. Sept. 22. The fast howler, .Tack Gregory, had a trv-out in a minor match on Saturday in view of the English visit. He howled he low Sj oed and tank no wickets, hut he demonstrated that his damaged knee was sound again.
