GIANT AIRCRAFT.
LONDON, July 2d The designs of one ol Germany s most, brilliant air technicians, Dr Rolirliach, have been acquired for use in this country by the aviation department of .Messrs lleardmore and Company, and one of his latest machines lias arrived at the works at Dalmuir, in Scotland, a- a model for the construction ol aircraft of greater size than any attempted hitherto. Dr Rohrbach is developing a system of building aircraft of lightweight metal alloys on lines which permit progressive increases in size until a mammoth type of flying-boat, carried through the air by one sustaining plane of metal, is evolved for prolonged over-sea flights with heavy loads. it was Dr Rohrbach who produced soon after the war the Zeppelin-Sta-aken monoplane with four engines, which was considered so formidable a weapon that it was destroyed by the Inter-Allied Commission. In view of the restrictions on the size and power of aircraft built in Germany. Dr Rohrbach went to Denmark, where he established the Rolirbnch Afetal Aeroplane Company.
