The stipendiary stewards to-day dealt with the case of Itoval Despatch which previously was adjourned to enable Mr Knight, the owner, to he present to show cause why the horse shim .1 not he dealt with. No evidence was called, hut Mr Knight leiterated wliat he said in New Zealand, that nothing had occurred to shake his mulideme in Trainer U. D. .tones.
The stewards decided to disqualify Koval Despatch for twelve month.';. Jn ariiving at this dc i.sion, the
stewards were inlliieincd by the contention that an owner must le taken to lie responsible for the a'tioc.s of Ids fin I lovees. Although they considered Mr Kilight was in no way implicated ill the case, they took the view that he should he penalised to the extent of losing the services of his horse. Air Knight has given notice to appeal to the Af.d'.r. Committee. The appeal probably will he dealt, with tomorrow.
