AMENDED REG I I.AT lONS

TEACHERS AND SALARIES

The following' amended regulations under the- Education Act, lfllt. are contained in the last “Gazette.”

Clause 17 is amended hv revoking Mill-clause lit) thereof, and substituting the following:— “(:!) —The ordinary grade salary of a teacher shall not he reduced owing to the fact that he i> managing or controlling the' hoarding establishment lielonging to the school, hut his remuneration over and alsivc- hoard and residence for such services in connection with the hoarding establishment shall be determined hv consultation between the principal and the* hoard, subject in all case's to the approval of the Minister.”

Clause IS is amended h.v deleting sub-clause CD. and substituting the following: “(S) On tin- recoinnn'iichiticm of the lmarel. made oil the advice of tile principal. the Director may approve of the payment of salary in addition to that prescribed in Schedule Hf. in the case of one female assistant in any mixed school.” MONEY FOB PRIZES.

The regulation ill regard to the amount allowed to bo spent oil school pdizes is to have the following proviso added:— “Provided that the amount expend-

ed from this source on school prizes for anv M-hool in any calendar year -ball not exceed £2-7. or a sum equal to Is i;J per unit of the roll ntinilier at March Ist. of that year, whichever tlmM be the smaller.” Free Places in Secondary Schools:— Clause of the regulations is amended hv deleting the words “not over sixteen” in the proviso thereto, and substituting the words '‘over fifteen.’ 1
