AUCKLAND, Sept. 5. The New Zealand Golf Championship Tournament opened at Middlemorc Links to-dav. The weather was overcast. and a strong north-easterly windtroubled the players. Two rounds of tbe open championship were played, the best total being returned by Arthur Duncan (Wellington), ltotli -T2. Duncan did tin- best single round equalling the ordinary course record of 71. The i-cxl !."st round was done hy Moss, 73. Both these players attracted large galleries.
