South England bad eight English players and hatted on an easy wicket. The outfield was heavy. The South African fielding made the scoring slow. Calthorpe alone was brisk until the last ten minutes, in which thirty were scored. Tate made !)•'), being once missed in deep field, which was the only dropped catch of the day. LONDON, September -I.
South of England in the first innings made 312 for 0 wickets and declared. Africans in the first innings made 2(io (Ward 08. Notir.se 00). Woolley took 4 for 00 and Rdf 4 for 24. LONDON. Sept. 4.
The Africans began well on a wet wicket, Nourse and Ward putting on 151 for the first wicket. Woolley and Rdf after the ten adjournment were responsible for the collapse of the visitors six wickets only nddmg o 4 runs. A drying wicket was most difficult.
