The Hokitika Ladies’ Hockey Club travelled to Brunner yesterday afternoon and defeated the Brunner Club by four goals to nil. Goals were scored by Misses Thorn (2). Stapleton and Thompson. Cobden also defeated Punalign. This win ensures tins Hokitika ladies winning the McKinney Cup. though they still have another game to play.

A former well known resident nt Brunner. Alis Alice Dando, died on Tuesday at Washington Valley. Nelson. at the age of 7(1 years. Her husband. the late Maurice Dandn. died some years ago. Deceased leaves two daughters and one son. while one son lost his life in the Brunner mine disaster. The annual meeting ol the Westland A. jiml |*. Association takes place to-morrow in the ('unity Council Chambers at 2 p.m.. and it is hoped that there will he a record gathering of Fanners and all others interested. The importance of an A. and P. Association to Westland cannot he overstressed: it has. like other Associations the liminflal side to consider, hut keen interest and proper oignisation is evert* whit as important, and really has much more ellVrt to make the Association successful than nine finance. It is; the most important organisation by which all interested in the welfare of Westland have in their power to assist development. Other districts on tin 1 Coast have come to recognise the power ami importance of A. and 1 . Associations, and are taking a live interest to assist their respective districts hv this means. It is trusted that renewed interest will he shewn at the annual meeting to-merrow.
