“(U KSTK OF TJIK IiOAKDKIiS." An unusual case was heard b,v -Mr K. Page 5.. M., in tin* Alagistnite'.s Omit. Wellington, last week, when Thomas Maltni IJrennaii. pro; r.ctur of the Hritannia. Hotel, was charged with aiding and n'.bcttiug a man m the eonimisslon of an ofl'eme, namely lieing on licensed premises after nours. It appeared that two men who weio staying at the hotel in question wen sitting in the telephone room with two Iriends who were not hoarders. One of the men purchased drinks for the uvo visiting friends, and as it was contended that neither of the visitors were true guests of the hoarders they were oath pm,scented and lined. For the defence it was stated that if the landloid did not see tin- two alleged guests enter the premises he could not have aided and abetted in an offence which was completed immediately the visitors entered the hotel. The Magistrate reserved his decision.
