THIRD TEST MATCH. AFRICANS’ BAITING. LONDON, July 11. Taylor, in a sudden burst of aggressiveness, bit twenty-four in ten minutes, including a sixer. The innings ended in Carter attempting a big bit. Following on. the Africans began better, making sixty-four for one. Then three went out for eighty-two. Nniirse was help!ill with a usclul thirty, till Wood found another victim. Taylor and Catterall changed the complexion ol the game. Ihe former was missed oil Ivldesley. lie drove the next ball for a delightful sixer. Catterall immediately similarly drove Macaulay.
Taylor’s fifty took 111 minutes, and ( nterall’s only took 01 minutes.
The general opinion o[ experts is that the South Africans lost confidence, and that indecision is the child I actor in their poor play. Even 'laylor is thus suffering, as was seen when lie foolishly ran Nourse out. On to-day’s showing Taylor is regarded as one ot the finest batsman in the world, and he would be still more suceesslul it relieved of tbe responsibility ol the captaincy. Catterall, while less polished, is more resourceful than Taylor. Ih» fielding was excellent. Ilendren was faultless.
