TUESDAY, JULY Ist.

NOTICES OF .MOTION.

1. —The Chairman to move:—“That the accounts for the month of June, 1921, as revised and recommended for payment by the Finance Committee, amounting to £ , he passed for payment.” 2. —The Chairman to move:—“That the Council make and levy, pursuant to the provisions of Sections 48—-55 of “The Rating Act, 1908,” and its amendments, and Sections 120—121 of “Tho Counties’ Act, 1920,” a general rate as follows—

(a) Seven farthings in tho £ on the capital value of all rateable property in the Northern Riding of the County of Westland.

(h) Seven farthings in the £ on the capital value of all rateable property in the Central Riding of the County of Westland.

(c) Seven farthings in the £ on the capital value of all rateable property in the Southern Riding of tlie County of Westland.

Such general rate to he for the jicriod commenced on the Ist day of April, 1924, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1025, and to liecAlilo due and payable in one sunt on the Ist day of July, 1921, at tho office of the Westland Countv Council, Hokitika.”

3.—The Chairman to move:—“That, the Council make and levy pursuant to the provisions of Sections 48—55 of “The Rating Act, 1908,” and its amendments, and the provisions of “The Local Bodies Loans Act; 1913,” and its amendments, special rates Its follows:

(a) A special rate of one penny and five-fourteenths of a penny in the £ (annually recurring) for the special inter-Wanganui , rating district, f(ir the loan of £7so* for tlie Petersen’s road extension.

(l,)vA special rate of one penny and seventeen-twentyfirsts of a penny in the £ (annually recurring) for tlie special Inter-Wanganui rating district, affecting the loan of C 450 for Petersen’s road further extension.

(c) A special rate of six-seven-teenths of a penny in the £ (annually recurring) for the special IntcT-Mun-ganui rating district, 'affecting the loan of £405 for La Fontaine creek clearing. (d) A special rate of six-thirtysec-onds of a penny in the £ (annually recurring) lor the special Southern rating district affecting the loan •of £ISOO for Kakapotahi bridge erection. Such special rates to > lie for the period commenced oil the Ist . day of April, 1921, and ending on the 31st day ’of March, 1925, and to become due and payable in one sum on tho Ist day of July, 1921, at the office of the Westland County Council, Hoki-

tika.” 4.—The Chairman to move“ That pursuant to the provisions of Section 3, sub-section (2) of “Tlie llatitlg Amendment Act, 1922,” tlie Council decides to allow to every ratepayer A rebate not exceeding 5% oii so much of the amount of tlie rates payable by him in respect to the foregoing General and Special rates as is paid before the expiration of thirty days after the due date thereof, viz: by the loth August, 1924, and in pursuance or this resolution the allowance of the rebate he publicly notified nccorditjg'v.” The Chairman to move:—“That the Overseer report as to the advisability of opening Station road, Koiternngi, for the convenience of increasj„.r settlement in preference to the extension of Doughboy road, as asked for on the road estimates applied for.
