DIVORCE GRANTED. GREYAIOUTH, June 25.

At the Supreme Court, on the grounds of desertion Phyllis Shepherd applied for a divorce from her husband, Norman Frances .Shepherd a captain in the Indian Ilis Honour said petitioner’s evidence in the main was not contradicted. There was no reason why the wife of a high paid officer of the Imperial Army should he compelled to earn her own living. Even had petitioner refused to go to India in 1923. the three years had gone by from November 1020 to November 1023 to enable her to apply on the grounds of desertion. As to respondent’s absence this would not affect the case as he had plenty of time to prepare an affidavit. Petitioner was granted a decree ni.-i to he made absolute after tile expiration of three months. Costs were allowed on tile highest scale, with disbursements and witnesses’ expenses to ho paid by respondent. Richard Roger Hall, farmer, of Kotnhu, applied for a divorce from Alary May Hill. The ease was not defended. Petitioner said he was married in the Newtown Catholic Church on May 2S, I DOM. He lived with his wife at "Wellington for a number of years and afterwards at (Hint, Aloana, and Kntiiku, where he carried on business as it coach proprietor. He petitioned in .May. l!)2.’t, for a restitution of eonjugal tights, which the .Supreme Court granted in September last. A decree nisi was granted.
