From Same, forwarding copy of letter from Okarito Harbour League requesting the Progress League's assitance in inducing the Government to proceed with the improvements to Okarito Harbour. and asking whether the ropiest met with the approval of this Committee.—Received. Air Jeffries stated that plans had been prepared and reoorts wore in the hands of the Marine Department estimating the cost at about £25.00i). Provided the work could he done it would lead to great improvements in Booth AA'e.stland. After discussion it was resolved that the Canterbury Progress League be advised tliat this Committee is of the opinion that" as there is little probability of railway extension to Okarito in the near future, and ns there is sufficient rateable land in South AVestland to carry a small rate to meet interest and sinking fund on the cost of the Harbour Improvement, the matter can he recommended to the consideration of the Canterbury Progress League. The Secretary reported having obtained a number of facts concerning the immediate surroundings of Okarito and these after being read and revised were recommended to he forwarded to Air Climie.

Railway Timetable.—lt was resolved after teceiving the rejtort of Afcs.srs Bnue. Afackav and Alorris. to request the Railway Committee of the League in Christchurch to recommend to the Railway Department the running of a trial through express service from Grevmouth to Hokitika on Saturdays with a stop only at Kumara. Tt was pointed out that on Saturday ( there were four trains each way to Greymouth and Hokitika, and that the cutting out of side station stoppages on one run would not entail undue hardship on Knl triwfllw, ivhile it would

popularise the service to long distance travelers. Publicity.—lt was resolved on the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Air Jeffries, to obtain and loau to Air McCullough one dozen slides of West Coast- views for lecture purposes in Canada. The selection of slides was left in the hands of Dr. Teiehelmann.

The sum of (5 was voted to provide enlarged photographs of Westland to hang in the Tourist Bureau office in Greymouth. the selection to lie left to the attention of Dr Teiehelmann. Farm School.—Air Dalglicsh extended an invitation to the President and other members to lie present at the opening of the Winter Farm School in Greymouth on 22nd. July. The President. Secretary and others promised to lie present if it could he arranged Canterbury Representative.—lt was resolved to request Air AY. Goss of Christchurch to act as this Committee’s representative on the Central Council in Christchurch, members remarking on his knowledge of "West Const conditions and requirements.

The meeting rose at 8.20 p.m. with a vote of thanks to the Chair.
