[I! EUTKRS TfI.F.GHAMS.} CANADIAN POSTAL STRIKE. OTTAWA. June 18. Following on a conference between Cabinet Ministers and the postal workers, the threatened nation-wide strike of postal employees, has been deterred for twenty-four hours. CANADIAN POSTAL STRIKE. MAILS MUST BE MOVED. OTTAWA, June IS. The postal workers in Toronto, Montreal. and several other cities, went on strike to-night, according to schedule. In consequence, the postmasters have been notified that the men are to be given till I!) o’clock on Tliursdav morning to return to work, or otherwise tliev will lie reolaced. The Acting- ’ostmaster-Geiieral, Mr Stewart, said the mails must be moved, and postmasters have been instructed to take the necessary steps to this end. HUGE C ANADIAN LOAN. OTTAWA. June 18. The Dominion Government announces that it intends to limit a loan lor three hundred million dollars. Ihe proceeds are to be devoted entirely to debt refunding. It lias not yet been decided whether the loan will he. floated entireIv in Canada.
