Doctor Albert Mausbridge urged the necessity of interesting adidts in the Empire. Not long ago, to mention the Empire at a labour meeting whether of students or politicaians, was to court trouble. Dr Mausbridge advocated a chair of Imperial Studies at overv University and University College.'
The Secretaries of the Carnegie Trust and the Educational Settlement Association emphasised the cultural value of Imperial studies.
WEMBLEY ('OX7MTIONS. LONDON, .May 29 The joint committee of the Trade Unions’ Congress and Labour Party, after inquiring into labour conditions at the Empire Exhbition reports that the management has not been mndful of the necessities of its employees, •with the result that instead of the exhibition being an example to the world of good British conditions, overseas and foreign visitors find waitresses forced to depend on tips in order to bring up their wages (Ids weekly) to a living standard. The Committee recommends the establishment of works committee for consideration of a removal of the grievance.
