HOKITIKA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

FRIDAY. MAY 23rd. The Council met at 7.30 p.m. Present: Messrs 0. A. Perry (Mayor), AY. Jeffries. R. F. Perhnm, J. King. (J. Heinz and 1). J. Evans. An apology was made for the absence of Mr Coulsou. The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Westland Rugby Sub-Union applying for us: 1 of Cass Square on Tuesday. June 3rd. lor the whole day for the annual seven-asid- 1 tournament.— Revived and request granted on usual terms.

From -I. Fox < Inspector) applying for annual leave.— Received and request granted. From J. Chamber... and San. forwarding particulars of concrete mixer.— Received; consideration deleired for enquiry.

From Westland County Council slating it had b ,, -.“!i agreed to contribute £25 for the current year towards tho upkeep of the Hokitika cemetery. —Received. The Town Clerk stated that tiie amount had been received. From Valuei'-Gcneral. From Westland Hospital Hoard no til'yiiig the Minister laid approved o' a charge of 7 per cent, being clnfgei' m all unpaid levies due. - Received. From Canterbury Progie~s Leagu-. forwarding copy of aim mil report.— Received. REPORTS. From Treasurer reporting lie received £13:1 -VI; payments 1:1*1 7d : credit balance £333 lbs 2d. Aeeotmt.s amounting to £172 *' wen paa-.od for payment• A formal resolution authorising Ha I,arrowing by wav of overdraft from the Rank of New Zealand up to £IOOP was agreed to on the motion of the Mover, seconded v Mr Perlinm.

The Inspector's report on the result, of requisition of the Health Department was read and received. It was res,,ived to forward a copy ol tin report in the Department. It was reported that the tender ol .1. Coyle for the supply of gravel at •_’s id per" load bail been accepted.

Mr Heinz notified that danger notices had been posted on a number of bridges in the toon, which were not in a. r.-inditioi: Ui carry a heavy load. Ac!ion approved It was resolved that the Chairman and Overseer inspect the bridges and report at next meet ing.

Tlie Overseer reported ii would eosl £7 to earrv water supply to tlie b'l'.mdnrv of Miss Ward's property, from the road-line. Alter discussion it wa-re-elveil to carry out the usual connection to the road boundary. The Council lose at 5.30 'p.m.
