CANTERBURY EDUCATION BOARD.
The Canterbury Kducation Board met at Christchurch on Friday. Present: Messrs 11. J. Rignell (chairman), G. W. Armitage, :K. 11. Andrews, W. A. Ranks, W. P. Spencer, A. Poverill. ('. S. Thompson. W. H. Winsor, 0. J. (law. .T, Mage, and T. Hughes. A PL’Ol XTM.KXTS. The appointments confirmed included :
Kumarn, Miss M. A. Henyon (assistant mistress): Olira, Mr 11. W . Black (headteacher). With regard to the Blackball School the three selected applicants having declined, it was resolved to re-adver-tise the position of assistant. It was resolved to defer action regarding appointment of a permanent teacher lot Arthur's Pass School until the end ol tile quarter. RESIGNATIONS.
The following resignations were among those received and accepted:— Araiika, Miss F. W. Dissert (sole teacher); Greymouth, Mr 11. W. Black (assistant master); Kanieri, Miss K. M. Millner (assistant mistress) ; Otiru, Miss Al. Henyon (assistant mistress); Ross. Mr J. H. Snrgison (headmaster): Wimdsloek. Mr T. G. McCullough • head teacher). A PPOiXT.M ENTS COM MITTEK. With respect to the school tit Baxter's Mill, the Appointments Committee staled that the inspector had reported the removal of most ol the children front the district and the transfer of the teacher to a relieving position at Waitaha. An application was received I t out Mr Bradley lor the shifting of the school to a difiereni site, so that it would serve other families, action being deferred pending the receipt of further information regarding the possible attendance and the ownership of the building. With regard to the school at Wallis siding, a report was received from Inspector .YyCa-kiil to the ell'ect that the local sii'.viiiiilers had agreed to provide a building for a school. It was resolved
to accent the oiler subject to the Department agreeing to tin* establishment of the school. The Buildings Committee reported that a (ire: 1 lar had been received from tli'o education Department regatding t e Lmitatiin of attendance at new school'. It was resolved to endorse
the suggestions made as it was considered that these would, if put into fine, overcome the difficulties oil. count .’red ill the nasi. The Board adopted the committee’s report.
