COMMITTEE SET UR. [nY iELKQHAVH —I'KR TRUSS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, May 14. The Minister of Health announced, that a special committee lias been set tip to conduct an inquiry into the ques tiou of tlie care-and treatment of feeble minded and sexual perverts in New Zealand.

The personnel of Hie committee is:— Hon. W. 11. Triggs, M.L.C. (Chairman) Dr. J. S. Elliot, and Sir Donald McGavin (elected by the Board of Health), Mr ('. E. Matthews (under-secretary to the Justice Department, appointed by the Minister for Justice), Mr W. Beck (the oflicer-in.cbargc of special schools, appointed by tho Minister for Education), and Dr. A. E. Paterson (appointed by tlio Minister of Health) Tho following is tho order of refer-

ence: — To inquire and report as to the necessity for the special care and treatpient of the feebleminded and subnormal, and to propose the general means by which such care and treatment, if aiiy, should be provided to inquire and report as to tlio necessity for the treatment of mental degenerates, and persons charged with sexual offences;, and to recommend a form of treatment for various types of cases. It is understood that Dr. Truby King will probably also bo a member of the Committee.
