SCULLING.
n\- telkchai'ii—rituss assx., roi-vitioiir. BLEXHEIM. May 12. Replying to McDevitt-’s statement regarding the Australasian championship, .7. I'. Hannan, holder of the title, repeats that he refused to row MeDevitt again, because lie took exception to his conduct a.s unsportsmanlike and inconsistent; but, apart from that, he had already provisionally, accepted a challenge from Arnst, and, according to the rules, he was hound to reserve himself for that. As for the proposed competition at Dargaviile, such a contest was alright in the way of bringing the best scullers to the top, but it would be quite wrong for him or anyone else-to allow the title to be turned into a prize for a kind of general scramble. If he had consented to that plan, lie would have failed in his duty to the title.
