TUESDAY “THE PLACE OF HONOUR.” A particularly fine cast is presented in the Stoll production, “The Place ol Honour” from the widely read novel by Ethel M .Dell, which is screening at the Princess Theatre on Tuesday night. “The Place of Honour” is an unusual story of the lives and loves of a British regiment on the burning sands of the ever-restless Indian border, revealing a husband’s bravery, a wife's devotion, and interwoven is someclever comedy. For instance, the story opens in the officers' mess where a lively discussion takes place over the probable description of Major Tudor’s wife, who is on route to India. So cold and hard is Tudor, that lie has been nicknamed “Ironsides” and lor the edification of the audience the faces of the officers’ surmises are depicted on the screen. Although highly amusing these are a direct contrast to Mrs Tudor who is very beautiful, and after a lino example of bravery later on, a Cockney soldier is heard to remark: “I ain’t forgot that fag. Missus! and I’m payin’ yer* back for it.” An unusual mid surprising climax concludes “The Place of Honour” which would spoil the picture if revealed, fure, hue suffice to say that it is quite contrary to expectations. Tho leading male part is admirably enacted by Hugh Buckler, who endeared himself to Australasian audiences with a repertoire of very successful plays a few years ago. Air Buckler is at present playing the leading part ol the most colossal production of the year at the Drury la ne Theatre' in Loudon. I* nr sheer magnificence this piece is said to outdo Ose.v Asdic, and the acting is described as superb. Air Buckler’s work in “I lie Place of Honour” is certainly a hia example of his prowess which ii"i L “ largely to make the picture a suecess. A Comedy, Gazette and Cartoon will conclude tlii* big programme. McLean’s Supreme Orchestra will render the incidental music. Friday:—“Tho Hundredth Chance.
