EXECUTIVE WAITS ON MINISTER. BY TELEGRAPH —TRESS ASSN*., COPYRIGHT. WELLINGTON, April 22 The Post and Telegraph Association Executive to-day waited on the Post-master-General (Hon J. G. Coates) to discuss the Department’s new wage schedules. Both the President and Secretary of the Association declared that the schedule is “absolutely unsatisfactory.” They submitted an alternative schedule, which, they said, would meet their requirements and bring their wages to a decent level. The Minister said that under the Department's schedule, various increases from 10 to 15 per cent per annum, were provided for. The increases detailed in the Department’s schedule represented a total increase of £34,000, whereas the increases asked for hy the P. and T. Executive would amount to £300,000. After discussion, the Minister said that nothing final could he determined then, as the matter would have to go before Cabinet.
