Yaldhurst Handicap.—Spruiider t, Ma Boughae Clareina 3. Scr. ©cranial and Finnra. Won by nlength. Time 1.27. . Autumn Handicap.— Lady Bentinck 1, Te Anna Lad 2, Opliir 3. All started. Won bv a head. Time 1.3 2-5. THE SYDNEY CUP. A SURPRISE WIN. (Received this day at 11.2?> a.m.i SYDNEY. April 22 In the second division Nursery Handicap Valorem won by a head. Time 1.14. There were nineteen starters in the high weight handicap. The “Herald" in describing the race for the Sydney Cup states that not until the straight was reached was Scarlet seen making her way through the big bunch, coming along in fine style "after a very exciting battle with Stony who also was not prominent until this'stage.
The “Telegraph" says that Stony who was proclaimed the winner was fairly outstayed by Scarlet who won comfortably. The Telegraph adds that it was a surprise win and it is certain that not even her most intimate connections profited much.
The Great Easter Steeplechase resulted—Fieetstone 1, Little Tovn's 2, Hose Alevne 3. Won by five lengths. Time 6.30. Onkapinga Cup—Ambelioio 1, Posto]ens 2. Kylilos 3. Won by two lengths. Time 2.12 J.
